The 99th Michigan District Convention was held June 28 - July 1 at Concordia University Ann Arbor under the theme, “Celebrate Jesus.” The logo, designed by Jenna Szpara, captured the spirit of St. Paul’s letter to the Philippians, wherein chapter 2 we find these words:
“Therefore God has exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name that is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.” Philippians 2:9-11.
Convention registration totaled 923; 514 Voting Delegates, 227 Advisory Delegates, and 182 guests. Convention highlights incorporated the concluding rally of the Ablaze! Torch Relay: For the Heart of Michigan An offering was taken at the opening worship for the LCMS Armed Forces Project Barnabas and totalled $4030.01.. This project equips congregations for the critical role they can plan in helping military chaplains and other veterans during the re-adjustment period after returning from the battlefield.
