Some schools have been having problems receiving criminal record check information from public schools or other non-public schools when a teacher transfers to a new school without interruption of service (i.e. leaves one school in June and begins work in a new school in September). We recommend that schools keep a copy of this attached notification that was sent to county educational agencies as an alert to current law for those who are reluctant to send appropriate information.

Note: The person whose criminal record check information needs to be sent to you should complete the attached form that has been developed by the Michigan Department of Education.
