Where:

Marriott Hotel
Auburn Hills, Michigan

Event Description:

The purpose of the Annual CEF Conference is to equip congregation reps with specialized training and provide them with the opportunity to build relationships. Our goal is that congregation reps will be more effective in communicating about the mission and ministry of the Michigan District Church Extension Fund.

The conference theme is "Extending the Kingdom... Equipping the Saints" based on Ephesians 4:11-16.

Conference Two-Day Structure

Saturday - Spend the Day with Church Extension Fund

Rev. Dr. Tod E. Bolsinger will bring the insights of his award-winning book, Canoeing the Mountains: Christian Leadership in Uncharted Territory to help us see how extending the Kingdom is something that is nearer and more challenging than we may have previously believed. "Seminary didn't prepare me for this..."  This confession, whispered countless times by pastors all over the country sums up the challenges of trying to "equip the saints for ministry" when the world around us is rapidly changing. Tod Bolsinger will help us recover a way of Christian discipleship and leadership formation that will enable leaders and their partners, pastors and their congregants be equipped to face the challenges of a changing world.

Sunday - Shaping Modern Hymnody Workshop and Worship

On Sunday, September 30, beginning at 8:30 AM, Keith and Kristyn Getty will lead the workshop, Shaping Modern Hymnody. Keith and Kristyn Getty occupy a unique space in the world of music today as preeminent modern hymn writers. In re-inventing the traditional hymn form, they have created a catalogue of songs teaching Christian doctrine and crossing the genres of traditional, classical, folk and contemporary composition which are sung the world over. In 2017, Keith Getty was honored as an Officer of the Order of the British Empire by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. Following the workshop the Getty Band will join Michigan District President, Rev. Dr. David P. E. Maier for the closing worship service. The conference will end by noon on Sunday.
