Principals' Conference at Higgins Lake 2018

When:
Tuesday, July 31, 2018 - 10:30 am EDT to Thursday, August 2, 2018 - 12:30 pm EDT
Where:

Ralph A. MacMullen Conference Center
Roscommon (Higgins Lake), Michigan

Event Description:

We are excited about our upcoming conference at Higgins Lake this summer on July 31st - August 2nd. It is hard to think we’ll actually have some warm weather at that point as this spring has just been an extension of winter… but we know the Good Lord will warm it up soon!

Our conference agenda is going to be changed a bit from past years because of the training from Franklin/Covey that will take place on Wednesday and Thursday. They will require eleven hours to give us an indepth look at the 7 Habits of Highly Effective People . Over the last 25+ years, that book has become one of the best selling books on leadership development. If I had one book to share with new leaders, that would be it. We are blessed to be able to bring in one of their national trainers to spend two days with us. Your leadership at your school and congregation will be blessed in return. And we will also hear how the 7 Habits can be something you can bring back to your faculty and staff.

Our agenda will be packed full from Tuesday afternoon through Thursday afternoon. The usual golf, fishing, hiking, and napping will have to take place on Thursday afternoon when the conference is over. Of course, we will still have great fellowship time each evening, and Higgins always feeds us very well! Pastor Griffith from Immanuel, Macomb (our School Shepherd Award winner from last year) will be our devotion and worship leader. We’ll also have presentations from MANS, CEF, District Convention updates, and other things on the agenda Tuesday afternoon.

The 7 Habits training is expensive as each person also receives a kit full of resources to use during our time at Higgins and in your ministry. We have received approval for 70% of the conference (including lodging/meals) to be paid through your Title IIA funds. We recognize that this year’s conference is significantly more expensive than in past years. That is why we have secured funding to assist with the registration costs for individuals who need financial support to attend the conference if for some reason you are out of Title Funds. We don’t want the cost of the conference to get in the way of you attending this summer.

The cost to attend is $510 for single occupancy and $450 if you are sharing a room. This includes your two nights lodging, seven meals, conference materials, 7 Habits training, the resources from Franklin/Covey, snacks, and the evening fellowship. Title Funds can pay for 70% (Over $350 of the registration cost). Again, if you are unable to use Title Funds to pay for the conference, we have funding to support individuals to attend. Please send Travis an email before you register online if you need financial assistance.

We look forward to our time together at Higgins and know the Spirit will be alive and well as we grow together in our leadership to continue to be a blessing to those He has called us to serve.

In Christ,
Your Higgins Lake Conference Planning Team
