Dr. Yops has a degree in architecture from Lawrence Technological University and has studied at The University of Michigan in their Urban Design program. Ten years into this profession he sensed God calling him into the ministry and has earned a Master of Divinity from Concordia Theological Seminary. He has continued his studies in missiology and received a PhD in said field. He was founding pastor and architect of the church he pastored for twenty years, Newlife Community Lutheran in Swartz Creek, Michigan. And he is currently the mission pastor for remissioning an existing Lutheran church, Calvary Lutheran in one of the more impoverished and violent areas of our country — Flints’ Eastside.
